2011 NBA Playoffs Game 3 Recap: Celtics at Knicks

Well I write this one as the Knicks are still playing, but this one has been over ever since the second half started. There’s not much to say here folks, this game was pitiful. The Knicks came out with no energy, they were out played, out hustled and out coached. Period. How do you come in to MSG, with an electric crowd, where the Knicks haven’t played a playoff game in seven years, and come out flat? How is the possible in any aspect? The only time the Knicks showed and heart and hustle was with six minutes left in the 4th quarter down by 20. The real question is: How on earth do you let Ray Allen, one of the greatest shooters in the history of the sport, to repeatedly be left open, possession after possession? It’s pitiful. Anytime the Knicks made a run, Ray Allen would come back and automatically hit a three. That’s either poor coaching, poor execution, or a combination of the two. This was basically a make or break game. Unless the Knicks want to come back and play harder than they have in any of the three games, this series is over. If not this will be one of the most monumental comebacks ever.

2011 NBA Playoffs Game 2 Recap: Knicks at Celtics

If Melo didn’t play the way he did the Knicks would have been blown out of the water tonight. Regardless, the Knicks had the ball with 11 seconds to go in the fourth quarter and couldn’t score. Of course Jared Jeffries, after a nice offensive showing by his standards, loses the ball with four seconds to go. Two games in a row the Knicks have the ball with seconds left and can’t muster a a good shot, let alone a point. And what befuddles me on top of that is that with four seconds to go, and the Celtics inbounding, not one single player on the Knicks attempted to foul Delonte West. If they had fouled him, they would have had about three seconds left to inbound, and put up a better shot than they got off. It doesn’t matter that the Knicks were without STAT for the second half, or without Billups for the whole game, the bottom line is that without these two the Knicks still had the opportunity to win and they didn’t. The Knicks face the Celtics on Friday at MSG for game three of the series, here’s to the Knicks finally closing out games they deserve to win.

Mets Designate Brad Emaus for Assignment →

Emaus had been struggling to start the season, and Daniel Murphy has shown he can at least be competent at second base so there really is no need for Emaus.

Mets = Oliver Perez?

The 2011 New York Mets are eerily similar to the 2009 Oliver Perez. Let’s take a stroll down memory lane to 2009. In 2009 Oliver Perez had a pitiful 6.82 ERA, but if anyone remembers he was absolutely filthy most games before the fifth or sixth inning and then would get rocked after that which rose his ERA greatly. This is what seems to be happening to all of the Mets starters. They look great for the first four, or five innings, and then get absolutely rocked after those innings. It doesn’t help matters that the Mets bullpen, with the exception of Pedro Beato and Jason Isrighhausen, have been terrible. The sad part is the for the first time in around two years the Mets are actually scoring a good amount of runs, it just so happens that the Mets starters give up more.

The thing is that the Mets have talent, and a lot of it. They’re not a bad team, and I feel they’ll actually be relevant in September, but as of right now, they can’t do anything right it seems. It’s not time to panic, last time i checked they still have 146 games left so it’s not a big deal that they’re struggling in April. They Still have Jason Bay coming back this week and hopefully a healthy Johan Santana in Late June or early July. There’s still many months of baseball left so chill out, relax and enjoy the season.

2011 NBA Playoffs Game 1 Recap: Knicks at Celtics

The first game of the 2011 NBA playoffs can be seen as either encouraging or disappointing. If not for early foul trouble would Carmelo have played better? Maybe. Would the Knicks have won if the referees didn’t call and offensive foul on Carmelo? or if they called a blatant hip check on Garnett? Probably. There’s no if ands or buts, plain and simple the Knicks played great, but still lost. This is the view of the realist fan. The Knicks played highly competitive basketball all night long, but a loss is a loss.
